About the project

Bees and More

Supporting Bees, Biodiversity and Climate Awareness Across Europe

Bees and More is a three-year Erasmus+ project connecting four European schools to raise awareness about bees, pollinators and environmental sustainability.

The project brings together schools from Austria, Sweden, Greece and Slovenia to explore the importance of bees and other pollinators for ecosystems and food production.

As bee populations decline across Europe, the project helps students understand environmental challenges and encourages them to take action to protect pollinators through research, collaboration and practical activities.

Bees and pollinators are essential for biodiversity, food production and healthy ecosystems, yet their populations are rapidly declining across Europe.

Why Bees Matter

Bees and other pollinating insects play a crucial role in ecosystems and agriculture. They support plant reproduction, biodiversity and the production of many fruits, vegetables and crops that humans depend on.

Current Challenges

Climate change, habitat loss, pesticides and environmental pollution are among the major threats affecting bee populations. These pressures are causing a decline in pollinators across many regions of Europe.

Protecting bees means protecting biodiversity, food security and the future of our environment.

Project Objectives

Raise awareness about bees and pollinators
Students explore the environmental challenges affecting bee populations, including climate change, habitat loss and agricultural practices.

Encourage practical environmental action
Participants learn how to create bee-friendly habitats and support pollinators through hands-on activities such as insect hotels, seed bombs and bee gardens.

Develop educational materials for schools
Teachers and students collaborate to create lesson plans, activities and learning materials that can be used in primary and secondary education.

Strengthen digital skills and collaboration
Students produce digital content such as videos, webinars and online resources while contributing to a shared project platform and website.

Project Activities

During the project, students and teachers will participate in a variety of collaborative activities, including:

– research on the impact of climate change on bees
– debate training and awareness-raising activities
– hands-on workshops supporting bee habitats
– learning about the life of bees and bee products
– development of digital educational materials
– creation of videos, webinars and online content
– international meetings and collaborative learning events

These activities combine science, environmental education and digital learning, encouraging students to develop both practical and analytical skills.

Project Results

The project will produce a range of open educational resources that will remain available to schools and the wider public.

These include:
– a project website presenting the activities and results
– an online educational platform for teachers
– lesson plans and educational toolkits
– instructional videos and webinars
– guides on supporting bee-friendly environments

All resources will be freely accessible and designed to support environmental education in schools across Europe.

Long-term Impact

By combining environmental education, international collaboration and practical activities, the Bees and More project aims to inspire students to become active citizens who care about biodiversity and sustainability.

The project encourages young people to understand environmental challenges, develop practical solutions and share knowledge within their communities.

Through cooperation between schools, teachers, students and local stakeholders, the project contributes to raising awareness about the importance of bees and pollinators for the future of our planet.
